Shapes in a Pile
Doodle from sketch book
2025

 It has been too long!

need to share something

so maybe a pile of shape

every shape

leaves you with something

feeling, a memory, an idea

shapes are everything

they make up the world we see

and they move around in our brains

at least they do in mine

so from time to time I unload some

maybe you can use them

take them into your brain

or hang them on your wall

don't worry about me

I will make more.

Letting Go

"Letting me through, letting me go!"

 I have always been

And I will always be

There is no real need

To be done

Or to have begun

For now, is fine

no real time

Let go the mind

Everything is motion

Spins the Spiral

I am the flow

No need to know

Or fear

What's was far is near

You speak I hear

I cry I grow

It's always letting go

sometimes you just write and wait for it to make sense.

It Holds Me Up

 Everyday
I walk
I Feel
The Earth
Under my feet
Pushing Back
It holds me up
Gives me a place to stand
Tell me
You feel it too!

walking

                      "Red Walks Into the Dark"

A walk
Awake
Direction to take
Decisions I make
Lives at stake
Rules I break
My mistake
I could be lost

A walk
A need
Choose the speed
Don't want to lead
A book I read
I fall I bleed
Scatter the seed
There is a cost

A walk
Go far
Leave the car
You know who you are
Take the guitar
Hot was the tar
That will leave a scar
All meaning tossed

The image above is a photo of paint on paper and then the images are created by smearing the photo in a computer program.

Comfortable Being Lost?

In Process
I came to the realization the

other day that it seem like if you

create or want to own abstract art

you have to be comfortable with

being lost. The image to the right

is being worked on at the writing

of this blog post. It is in process,

that is not its title. I keep adding

elements and I am never sure

where it will go next. I tend

to spend long moments just staring

at it and then all of a sudden adding something.

It is as if I was lost in the woods with several directions I could

go in and then I just choose and go. With so many choices of

directions I could go in I think that is what keeps me making

art. Once I finish one piece with all its directional choices I start

over saying well let's take a different path.

So the next time you are looking at an abstract piece of art

ask yourself am I comfortable with being lost or do I need the

way to be clear. The art is not just about the artist, it is also

about you.

Collaboration

 On My Way Into Town

This is a new thing.
I let people paint what ever they want on a board or canvas.
Then I draw into it.

I love this!
I am free of the color placement and surprised by where the line goes.

It is a collaboration.

Below is a section of the above work before I drew into it.
I started two friends off, with a few strokes of red and green and then walked away.
A true collaboration of play.

I have never seen this

The Place I Was Before
Digitally enhanced version

I have never seen this

I mean, in reality, something that looks like this.

Well, maybe it is like a bunch of leaves crumpled under a bush.

I was not looking at the leaves as I drew.

I sloshed a bunch of paint on a canvas,

swirled it around and let it dry.

Then I drew into the shapes in the paint

and like the crumpled leaves it was just there.

Into some of the spaces I scrawled my emotional language,

the little lines and shapes

that are a graffiti of sorts that lets you know I was here, or there

and was trying to speak to a divine entity

who may be able to interpret random scrawling.

I am calling this Abstract Art.

It is a practice, because I do it again and again

with the intent of getting somewhere.

The thought I keep coming to is: if I get to this somewhere some day,

will it still be abstract or will it all become clear?

Sense

Make Sense of This

I tried to talk to you but my words made no sense

I tried listening but only heard the sound colors make

I beat sticks on rocks, that only chased snakes from their hiding places

I danced around in circles till someone said this is a square dance

I have tried to make sense of this

but it seems like I am getting nowhere

and if you've followed my previous words

you will realize that even nowhere is somewhere

So there I am, there we are, got the sense of this?

Yes you are deep into my head

Welcome

Paint Me a Picture

Emotional Circuitry

So much
so many
altogether
overwhelming

          They keep coming
          compounding
          interacting
          electrifying

                  Somewhat disturbed
                  yet intrigued
                  I am laughing
                  then enraged

                             Layer upon layer
                             I want out
                             but without
                             I am lost

                                          Am I the story
                                          or words on a page?
                                          I have made connection
                                          now to engage

                                                      Moments?
                                                      emotions?
                                                      relationships?

Dimensional Rift or Cracks in the Wall

Have you ever looked at a crack in the wall

and wondered if a life form from another dimension was pushing on the wall causing it to crack?

Okay, then you are probably more stable than me.

That is where this sculpture comes from; that kind of imagining.

Something I made up while looking at the sculpture:

The Crack
Shh, I just heard a tick, or more like a teenk
It just came from that crack, I mean that's what I think
do you hear a humming, or is that in my head
perhaps it's a buzzing that I am hearing instead
Is the crack getting bigger
was it always that long
I am going to stand behind you
and I need you to tell me I am wrong
Now I hear talking or maybe it's singing
Yes the buzzing has stopped, but now it's a ringing
This crack is distracting
I have given it too much control
I am putting it out of my mind
Wait, could it become a hole?

My Mind Nebula

"My Mind Nebula" is a colorful cloud that swirls around in my head. In my mind's self-fabricated reality there are actually many different nebula clouds. They are where I retreated when the teachers back in school said I was day dreaming. I fill these clouds with dream, in a form of language that only the soul can read.

We are beings of the outer world; we live by our senses. We measure, categorize, predict and plan everything out. We are driven by knowledge. We are now coming into a time where finding a balance between knowing and feeling will be the only way to thrive and survive.

The reality is, the inner world is as big as the outer. In fact, the inner world may be larger than the universe itself. Then again, it may be the same place altogether. Whose mind nebula do you imagine you are living in?

The Line

Sometimes I am the line

I am just drawing to find myself

To see if I am still in the line

The line is a journey

I travel within the line

The line has power and presence

When I am the line I am in control

Doing what I need to do

Yes the line can be frightening

That's okay

I just keep moving

When I stop sometimes I have something

I always have something

When I am the line.

The Skins We Wear

The Individual Next to Me

On this plane of existence

we are each a very colorful entity

all living in the same universe

no matter how far we are from one another

We impact each other

The variety of skins we wear

disguise our true nature

The true nature cannot be described

It is felt none the less

It is a feeling of oneness

that both excites us and terrifies us at the same time

It is this emotional polarity

that causes us to in one moment wage war

and in another risk our own life to save another

I will continue this thought later on.

In The Works

My brain is a machine
with a program
that runs constantly
The program is designed
to keep me alive
The program's definition of alive
is survival
It is all it has ever known
When I ask it to show me true life
it says
it's in the works,
keep moving forward and you will work it out
 Let's think some more
Just keep thinking
You will work it out
Don't stop thinking
cause then you are dead,
just run the program
It is in the works

I no longer think
this is true life.

This is Where I Have Come To

This is where,
well not a where,
more like a how -
how when you think
of everything
all at once
and it all runs together
into a puddle
left from a mental rainstorm.
You say
so this is where I am,
how I've come to be?
where I've come to...
just that.

You Were

There are moments

where you are not who you are,

and you can accept that it may just be the moment;

but there is the possibility that you never were who you thought you were.

Whisper

Flowing between every water molecule

Moving down the mountain to the sea,

Lying deep within the folds of every new bloom

Pushing up through the blanket of leaves on the forests floor,

And held fast within the layers of time and energy

From the core to the bark as each tree rises

There are fragments of stars

That whisper to all life

We are here because of a Love

That has no limitation

From a creator who expects from us

Only to pass on the star fragment's secret whisper

“You are loved”

I do not know this to be true

It is only felt to be voiced

For I am not here to know,

But to feel.

Emotional organism

An emotional organism is an imaginary creature created by layers of unresolved emotions that build up in most humans. These organisms or parasites make it difficult for a person to be fully engaged in living. Each layer contains emotional language waiting to be deciphered. It is not a rational language that can be read in any consistent manner. It is  a language that must be felt by each individual in their own way and time. If you say, "the symbols I see do not make sense", this means you are trying to "think" the language out  and not "fee"l it. You must first feel the language of the layer and then use thought to articulate what has been felt.
It also must be explained there is no direction to reading layers, up or down, left or right direction is too much a part of thought. You can even start in the center and read in both directions at once, although this is highly advanced. Don't worry it may not be clear right away, it could take hours, days, years, a life time to read the emotional language of the layers.
This representation of an imaginary emotional organism is for sale for $2500.00 it is about 32"x 26" Made of wood, acrylic paint and pen.

Notion #16

There is a point where you stop talking and listen
There is also a point where you stop looking and see
I think it maybe that just past that point is where we begin to feel
At that point there is no turning back
Keep on going

Shape Shifting

These are fragments of photos mounted on blocks of wood that I then moved around on a black canvas and photograph. The individual shapes you see in these images are parts of photos that have been cut up. I can use the shapes again and again and arrange them any way I want and then rephotograph them. I can then work with them in Photoshop in the computer again to change them even more.

The computer creates the burst behind the shape out of the refection of the flash. This is done by running the image through one of the programs many filters

My inspiration for this work comes from the Dada artist Jean (Hans) Arp, this is one of his works to the left. To see more images of his work follow this link
