Thoughts and reflections on the things I do to seek and nurture the meaning I find in the moments that make up life. It's a whole bunch-a-stuff.

I made you up
I made you up. I was alone and the loneliness was relentless, so I made you up. I set everything in place for you to be. Gave you a place to dwell and eyes with which to see me, so you would not feel alone. Your eyes glazed over with all that was and continues to be before you. Sometimes I am not sure you see me anymore. Nevertheless I am the one who made you up. I dreamed the motion, all the colors, the balance, the agility. I taught you to dance, to sing, to play about the garden. Then you got scared. With all there was to experience you became overwhelmed. You made up rules to bring order and stories that spoke of not being worthy and that you were cast out. I have always loved you and never saw you this way, you have never left the garden. I gave you everything and wanted you to have all the understanding of that everything, for that is who you are. Who we are, you and I and the everything are one. We are the made up and the makers of everything. Do not be afraid!

Okay, Been awhile!
I am
The burning bush
All of life
The flame
It takes
All my strength
To not
Be consumed...
...Perhaps I should not work so hard.
"I am the burning bush"
Wood cut 17"x 8" paint and ink
This style of sculpture is a product of play. I do not always enter into their creation with an idea. I actually allow the shapes to tell me what they will become. I cut random shapes, sometimes paint them and then move them around on and among each other until I find their story or relationship. The ink line drawing is to symbolize the complexity, it is a non definable emotional language. I just like lines and shapes.

Following the lines
The above painting is about 48"x 32" to the left is 32"x 32" The one below is much smaller only 12"x 12".
As I have said before when I think to much about how something should be I often never get around to doing it. This kind of art experience allows me to break from that thinking and just place line and shapes one after another until a space is filled and then step back to realize now I have something.

Go That Way
Sometimes it is hard to know when to stop. I started this sculpture as a random abstract wood cut out. Each of the three layers was a single color, but then I started adding paint and small fragments of photographs into it. So it became a study to see where it would go and this is where I stopped. I have not added any thing in about four months so I think the experience of it is over. I call it "If I Were You I'd Go That Way"
Some how the face and form that merged out of the playing with these pieces of wood seems to be pointing to places to go. Not sure what that's about.
Stands about 4'x2'

The close up shot shows a labor of love. The black lines represent my feeling that any collection of abstract random line or shape can evoke feeling. This is another attempt of mine to create emotional language. I drew it now I am looking for someone to read it; I am sure it says something.

Whisper
Flowing between every water molecule
Moving down the mountain to the sea,
Lying deep within the folds of every new bloom
Pushing up through the blanket of leaves on the forests
floor,
From the core to the bark as each tree rises
There are fragments of stars
That whisper to all life
We are here because of a Love
That has no limitation
From a creator who expects from us
Only to pass on the star fragment's secret whisper
“You are loved”
For I am not here to know,
But to feel.
