A Whisper

This is a whisper in my head. That means it is not clear. Not a clear thought or idea, just a whisper.
There are these spirits that run across one of the valleys in my soul. They are warriors, hunters, reactors. They react without thought, quickly, so quickly that sometimes their action is complete before the event has begun. I know that is not possible but remember this is not real, I think, just a whisper. There is a deity that watches them from some place that feels not like my soul but more like my head. Okay now I am not saying that this means my soul is some place other than my head, but we are talking about feeling, not knowing. So I really don't need to explain this.
Anyway the deity watches and often sends storms into the valley in order to bring about change. The storm destroys the spirit warriors village and causes them to move and rebuild and keep trying to bring order back to their life. They do all this quickly, so quickly.

One day the deity set a storm that lasted for some time. The warriors hid from it as long as they could, but then chose to war against the storm. As the storm raged on, all they would do would be to run at it and try to pierce it with their spears. The storm simply sent the spears flying back, many warriors were killed. When the storm died out, something strange was left behind. A sphere that spoke of wonders, secrets, and dreams lay on the valley floor. Some listened, but most reacted swiftly and tried to kill the sphere and stop it from speaking.

As the spears struck the sphere they were drawn in and the energy of the spears brought with them the story of each warrior. All the spears gathered in the center of the sphere creating a kind of flower that seemed to amplify the wonderings that continued to emanate outward from the sphere. The sight and the stories slowed the warriors and they stopped their swift reacting and began to think and wonder about everything.
To this day the spirit warriors sit listening and at peace, in one of the valleys of my soul. They listen to the sphere reflecting there stories back to them. The sphere I believe is a fragment of the creative force of the universe. These fragments lodge themselves in many places with in each persons soul. We then spend our entire lives making attempts to hear the stories of existence held with in us.

This has been a whisper, only a whisper, if it had been actual information it would have made sense.

This is the full therapy painting the whispers came from. Just me playing with paint. The colors have been computer enhanced, the original is really quite dull.

Emotional organism

An emotional organism is an imaginary creature created by layers of unresolved emotions that build up in most humans. These organisms or parasites make it difficult for a person to be fully engaged in living. Each layer contains emotional language waiting to be deciphered. It is not a rational language that can be read in any consistent manner. It is  a language that must be felt by each individual in their own way and time. If you say, "the symbols I see do not make sense", this means you are trying to "think" the language out  and not "fee"l it. You must first feel the language of the layer and then use thought to articulate what has been felt.
It also must be explained there is no direction to reading layers, up or down, left or right direction is too much a part of thought. You can even start in the center and read in both directions at once, although this is highly advanced. Don't worry it may not be clear right away, it could take hours, days, years, a life time to read the emotional language of the layers.
This representation of an imaginary emotional organism is for sale for $2500.00 it is about 32"x 26" Made of wood, acrylic paint and pen.

To See You

To see you
I have to risk seeing myself
I mean to really see you
To open not only the eyes on my face
But the eyes within my mind
And really see you
I have to be prepared to see who I am
You are a mirror to me
All of you
And this scares me in a way
That I am not yet ready to face
So I will glance at you and smile
And we will leave it at that for now
And when the courage comes
I will try to give it to my eyes
To see you

Notion # 17

I do not think about you now
In the way you think of me
Memories are not held here
But broken open and set free
All gathering and entangling
With every moment that has passed
They wait on the arrival
Of the moment to be last
For it is the final one
That will make it also clear
I do not think about you now
I am letting go the fear

The abstract

I like creating abstract art. So much of or lives are defined for us that an abstract visual can offer us a moment of freedom. It is a chance for us as the viewer to make up our own mind about what it is we are perceiving. I have met friends who do not like this and would prefer to have most everything they see definable the minute they see it. Like many things abstract art is not for everyone, you have to be willing to let your own life experience and perception connect for a moment with the work. This can be a moment of vulnerability and that often makes people feel uncomfortable or awkward.

These two images were created with the camera. Shooting in the early evening light I shut off my flash and in the low light the camera shutter stays open longer and if I move the camera at the same time I get these great blurred shots. I then put them into the computer over saturate the color and sometimes add other filters to enhance or define line.

I do give names to the images I create, but I won't do that here so they are even less defined. If you would like to see names and more abstracts follow the link below.

Notion #16

There is a point where you stop talking and listen
There is also a point where you stop looking and see
I think it maybe that just past that point is where we begin to feel
At that point there is no turning back
Keep on going

as my soul sees me

"as my soul sees me"
Unaware that I am walking around
My soul thinks I float
unaware that I can produce sound
My soul assumes I'm mute
My soul is just aware of all the spaces with in me
and the struggles they posses
Each space holds one conflict
one dilemma, trying to work itself for me out
or one excitation, one elation
Burning to express this myself without doubt.
This is just a fragment of the confusion
with which my soul sees me.

I may write more later and then again may not.

Shape Shifting

These are fragments of photos mounted on blocks of wood that I then moved around on a black canvas and photograph. The individual shapes you see in these images are parts of photos that have been cut up. I can use the shapes again and again and arrange them any way I want and then rephotograph them. I can then work with them in Photoshop in the computer again to change them even more.

The computer creates the burst behind the shape out of the refection of the flash. This is done by running the image through one of the programs many filters

My inspiration for this work comes from the Dada artist Jean (Hans) Arp, this is one of his works to the left. To see more images of his work follow this link
